Canadian tenor Clinton Bradley Stoffberg, based in Vancouver, is known for his “sincere performances” and “versatile, clear tenor voice”. With the Postmodern Camerata, Clinton has performed many of the works of J.S Bach, most recently, the role of the John the Evangelist in their 2015 performance of the Johannes-Passion. He made his solo orchestral debut in 2012 in Dunbar Heights United Church’s (DHUC) Easter production of Bach’s Mass in B Minor. He was later engaged as the Evangelist in their 2013 production of Bach’s Johannes-Passion and once again in 2014 as their tenor soloist in Mozart’s Requiem Mass in D minor. Also with DHUC, Clinton has performed as the tenor soloist in various productions of Handel’s Messiah. He sang the role of the Shepherd in Respighi’s Laud to the Nativity with the Vancouver Oratorio Society in 2014. This year, Clinton appeared as Tonio in a concert version of Donizetti’s La fille du regiment with Opera di Concertisti. Clinton looks forward to singing the role of Pontius Pilate in Arvo Pärt’s Passio with St. Philip’s Anglican Church in Easter 2016.
With his wide range of colours and superb diction, Clinton is also a strong recitalist and has performed in numerous recitals around the Lower Mainland. In Fall 2012, with pianist Wenwen Du, he was one of nine duos worldwide to be invited to the Oxford Lieder Festival Master Course. After the Master Course he spent a week in London coaching with many renowned musicians, notably James Gilchrist and Anna Tilbrook. He was a participant in the Vancouver International Song Institute’s (VISI) French Mélodie Immersion program in 2012 and 2013. Clinton was also a participant in OperaWorks’ Two-Week Winter Intensive program in LA. He received a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of British Columbia and studied opera at the Vancouver Academy of Music.
Throughout their 2013/2014 and 2014/2015 seasons, Clinton was a core member of Juno-nominated vocal ensemble musica intima. With musica intima, Clinton toured to Whitehorse, Reno, Vancouver Island, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, New Brunswick, Quebec, Ottawa, and PEI where they performed and conducted many workshops. He has also been seen on the choral stage with the award-winning Vancouver Cantata Singers.
Away from the stage, Clinton can be found spending time with his beautiful wife, Alyssa, and their son, Braeden.
